Finally bought a new car...

    Finally bought a new car...

    The 1998 Ford Contour (base model with stick) has been on its last legs for awhile. I've been researching and test-driving since Thanksgiving, and finally pulled the trigger.

    The winner: a new 2011 Mazda6.

        I just bought a new Prius. 1st 2 yrs of maintenance are now included.

          Looked at Prius, which nice and fuel-efficient but boring. I'm a little bummed that it's still essentially a $4000-5000 upcharge to go hybrid.

          The other finalist in my search was the Hyundai Sonata, which I also loved. Ultimately, I got the Mazda because I saved a ton of money with their manufacturer incentives by comparison.

          BTW, I also want to thank the Interwebs for making car-buying WAY easier than it was a decade ago. Very sweet to have all that accurate information available.

            The Prius is a death trap in snow. Kuci has one and it struggles to get around even in light snow and ice.
            If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

                I drive a 2000 Accord that has been in several major accidents (thanks to Kuci ). Still drives somehow.
                If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

                  Waste of money. Buy used, that way it doesn't loose 15-20% of its value off the lot. Besides, all a car is is something to get you from point a to point b. Make sure it has AC and heat, good brakes, air bags and gets good gas mileage. The Accord is great. I have a Corrolla.

                    It doesn't have particularly good AC or heat anymore. I'm going to be getting a new car once I graduate, probably.

                        Certainly second hand and almost new, amazing how much money you save. But I am not quite ready to drive a hearse yet...
