              What gets me is that 3.5 is the expected return on 1 roll of the 6 sided die.

              Expected return is impossible to achieve with 1 roll.

                I think (guess) he was being sarcastic...

                Expected result of 1d6= 3.5 thus expected result of 10d6 = 10*3.5=35. It doesn't get much simpler than that. Sigma is a (tiny) bit trickier.

                      Not true. 1 - 6 are equally likely with one roll.
