I only want to read my news, I don't want to have to sit through a video on the subject, for these reasons:
1. It's less private. There's probably going to be sound and the moving image will attract unwanted attention. I might have to put on headphones and turn on the sound on my PC which is a drag.
2. To get the information, I have to sit through the whole video. I can't skim it for most relevant details and then go back through it to see how the writer structured the information (which is how I prefer to read.)
3. I like to make up my own funny voices for characters in a news story, maybe give the gruff cop a Sean Connery accent for instance. The video format takes all the wonder out of it.
