Jrabbit... when you're dealing with fanboys and anti-fanboys teh mere mention of the industry makes it an X vs Y thing.

For rational people you can address a specific issue with a specific product or product line and not make it an X vs Y thing, but finding those people online is a very difficult thing and you should have known better

        Am I crazy here?

His post blatantly and repeatedly and specifically mentions only Android. That is not the way to open a discussion on the industry as a whole. That's a way to open a discussion about Android.

What if you search for a business and then want to call them?

It was a piece of news, nothing more. The OP is virtually all quotes, and it's A STORY ABOUT ANDROID. Observant people will note that my commentary in the OP doesn't mention Android. Or Apple. Jeez.

Admit it: you're just being a thread title nazi.

You see, apps need to be more clear about this in their descriptions.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

It's not just the thread title. The whole OP as well.

The title & OP portray this as an issue irrelevant to Apple.

PS: This observant person most certainly noticed you mentioning Android in your very first sentence...

mentioning Android in your very first sentence...
I was just commenting to my wife how odd it is that the new Motorola Droid ads tout their phones as "self-aware" as if that's a good thing.
Nit-picker. Besides, it was a simple setup to the article I was quoting. The title and OP don't mention Apple because THAT'S NOT WHAT THE ARTICLE WAS ABOUT.

To be fair, I had the same reaction Asher did and saw it as an implied attack on Android.

"Sure seems evil" is a pretty obvious dig at Google. That might be warranted in other cases but it's not easy to pin this on Google, considering that IQRD is not in vanilla Android.

An attack on Android doesn't have to be a justification/endorsement of Apple/anything else.

The addition of relevant information that was omitted by the article, viz a reminder that Apple had a similar issue publicized recently, doesn't have to be seen as an attempt to start an Apple vs. Android fight.

I also didn't even read the articles quoted, as I'm familiar with the issue.
