1. This solves the problem of illegal immigration by definition.
2. This lets you bring manufacturing back from Asia, improving your trade balance and economy.
3. This improves your reputation all over the world.
Any drawbacks?
with regard to what the world will think?

Yes, I agree even then the increase in the labor supply would eventually result in more jobs for low skilled people but it can take years, even decades, for that equilibrium point to be reached and that would cause great personal hard ship for the low skilled American citizens. The better solution is to give free education (the way most of the rest of the 1st world does) so those low skilled people can move up the economic ladder and then bring in more low skilled workers.Last edited by Dinner; November 20, 2011, 16:24.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

There's no benefit to over-educating people. As important as scientists and engineers are, the economy needs low skilled people to do the grunt work. If you choke off the supply of laborers, then you're going to have higher labor costs, and those higher labor costs will result in a less competitive economy.John Brown did nothing wrong.

There's something seriously wrong with us if our high school graduates seriously can't compete with totally untrained foreigners who speak and read negligible English. Or if the only jobs available can be done by people at that skill level.
