Someone posting a ranking before, and your school was 4th or something in maths and science.
Indeed. Going to a good high school means your parents could afford to live somewhere nice usually. Succeeding after going to a ****hole, means you're actually worth something.

I see now that you were referring to the Hong Kong being destroyed thing. The thrust of my point remains intact in the sense that HC's claims were not totally baseless, and were several steps above your ad hominem attacks.
:sigh: No, that is not what I was referring. Maybe you're reading a different thread. Your point was lost long ago. Now I'm just trying to give you a chance to save face.

No, you both lose. And since you need to depend on brand name schools, CMU is an ok, but not great choice.

I hope this is a joke on your part.

That's just a couple. There are a number of people up here who wish they could be at CMU, but are here because they couldn't get in.

            • I'm sure there are plenty of people lining up. CMU produces code monkeys (albiet good code monkeys), nothing more.

I made a passing reference to his misuse of vitriolic. His schooling interests me not a jot.

Though if he seriously thinks that any of my recent posts and any of my replies to him have been vitriolic, then perhaps he needs remedial English classes.

I should point out that if you have enough money and/or connections you can get into many educational establishments. It's what you do in them and take from them that counts.

                        • I must say that I'm loving this new thing on Poly which can be paraphrased as "I note your comments, but I suspect that you may have used the internet to investigate them at some point. Therefore I win".

It's great. It saves all that inconvenient nonsense about actually discussing issues and facts, because all that matters is how you learned them. The only thing it needs is a suitable name.

                          I suggest "Intellectual Apartheid".

Yes, but really, not learning anything from top ranked schools is the worst offense.
