as I said repeatedly, I was trying to troll mobius with that statement--but I suppose that will always be an ignored detail. Fair enough, I guess, as trolling MOBIUS is rather like trolling ben.

How the **** am I supposed to know about archaic usages confined to the deep south which is a place I daily tell everyone I hate? Especially when there is a normal usage which even the dictionary says is the standard usage?

****, your assumption doesn't even make sense in the original post. In fact, it's completely retarded. Strangely enough the standard usage does indeed make perfect sense.

That's just proof that you're a closet southerner, Oerdin. Kind of like George Alan Rekers.

It sure as **** isn't the first definition listed in the dictionary nor was it the definition used by Bush Sr nor even is it the definition used by most people. In short it is an archaic colloquialism confined to a small geographic area which hasn't entered common English language usage.

This just reenforces the fact that Ogie is always wrong though just like DinoDoc constantly looks like a ****** for screwing everything up. It comes with being southern so I'm sure you are used to it by now.

Here is the standard definition used by most people instead of the racist bigot definition being put forward by Albert Speer and HC:

The Tar-Baby is a doll made of tar and turpentine used to entrap Br'er Rabbit in the second of the Uncle Remus stories. The more that Br'er Rabbit fights the Tar-Baby, the more entangled he becomes. In modern usage according to Random House, "tar baby" refers to any "sticky situation" that is only aggravated by additional contact.
It's from wiki. Albert and HC are just bigots trying to find justification for their bigotry. Given that they both are ill read and ill educated it is no wonder they constantly search wiki for obscure and archaic usages which don't conform to standard English.

How did you conclude it was specific to the deep south? This must be some sort of prejudice on your part.

Reading this thread I couldn't help but think how awesome it would be to watch a fight between gribbler's and Oerdin's avatars... (by reading I mean I was looking at the avatars as they scrolled by)
