I don't know guys-- I am sure the dog would love albie on first acquaintance and look forward to seeing him again . . but within a couple of weeks you know the dog would be refusing to answer his calls and peeing in his shoes.

    Its inevitable

Please advise if you wish to contribute to this worthy cause, and suggest a breed of dog. Whether it be an adorable pit bull or a fluffy alsatian or whatever.

I am sure Albie would appreciate it.
I had no idea you hated dogs this much.

I want to get a dog again. I'm kind of thinking of getting a yellow lab.

Get a mutt, they're almost always healthier due to the more diverse genetic background. And generally more interesting than being the 5000th yellow lab owner in your city.

You can't go wrong with Labs, we have two yellow labs and they are a blast. They're very active though - no dogs for couch potatoes. They also need a fenced yard.

How about a nice Irish Wolfhound? They are quite active and will protect you from other nasty dogs.

Al, if you have netflix, there is a very interesting doc on dogs. In part, they compare the behavior of dogs to wolves.
They show a group of wolves that have been raised by humans as if they were dogs. For the most part the wolves show dog like behavior except in certain circumstances. One of these is they place a treat in a cage and make it too difficult for the wolf to get. The wolf get agitated and aggressive. When they do the same test with a dog, the dogs tries to figure it out and when he can't get to the treat he looks to the human in the room to open the cage for him.
