I have 40 hrs minimum, and then my voluntary work begins. Anyhoo, I sometimes wonder what my regular jobs are like. I waste a ****load of hours researching topics I need for my spare time commitments. I master my own jobs, so I decide. Cool you might think, but a lot of responsability at the same time... :/

Seriously, we all should work less hours. Life would be better. Discuss!

When you're self-employed and work at home, work/life balance is an inevitable issue.

Hardly, if we ALL did less work. That logic only works for the individual.

For example: I notice that I'm more efficient in my work when I do less hours. It's difficult to keep focused an entire day anyway.

And does it only work for the individual? My assertion is that we work hard in order to expand, which is pretty much the only way in our current system we hold out financially; our economy needs to grow. But do we really need those new consumer goods? They don't make me any happier in any case. I think we're investing too much energy in the wrong things, such as growth.

My most efficient is probably 30-60 hours a week, depending on what I am doing that week.

I think that this is true for most people, maybe +-10 hours.

And it is true that we work far more than 'should' be necessary. Back in the 16th century, they (particularly More) theorized that people could have every they would need for a nice life with 6 hours of work per day....
