I dont see how they would be wiped out given the superior mobility the opening post provides them. It doesn't seem that all 330,000 men in the roman legion could be moved into a position to make use of their number given the mobility described below. The air transport alone provides the marines the opportunity to pick and choose their battlegrounds. Once shock losses of several thousand or more would occurr unit/legion cohesion would be lost. If the intention would be to maximize damages so that the Romans were unwilling to fight it seems quite likely that would be the case. Thus buying time for the more lower tech make shift gunpowder/explosives supplemental approach to limitted supplies more likely while the Romans regrouped (likely weeks if not months).

We'd be made up of about 2000 members, of which about half would be participating in ground attack operations. We can use our four Abrams M1A1 tanks, our artillery and mechanized vehicles (60 Humvees, 16 armored vehicles, etc), but we cannot use our attack air support, only our transport aircraft.

I think it's "Carthago delenda est', and Cato the Elder said it all the time. It means Carthage must be destroyed.

"Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam", and no clue where that short form is coming from.

I'm quite aware of the meaning, and you are wrong. It's more like "Further, I think that Carthago should be destroyed"

That wasn't too bad. I should brush up on my Italian at some point, and probably learn Catalan and Portuguese while I'm at it.

Googled a bit and it's my 40+ bad memory that hits - it should be "Praeterea, censeo Carthaginem esse delendam"
