  • 1 Israeli Jew = 1,000+ Palestinian Muslims

    Good deal, or not?
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

Next time Hamas kills an Israeli, the IDF should kill 1,000 Palestinians.
    John Brown did nothing wrong.

This was a ****ing stupid deal. It baffles me that Israel would agree to something so ridiculous. Something's seriously wrong if it is strategically better for your soldiers to die than be captured. They should have given him up as a lost cause.

HC, I guess it is a matter of dignity and if you're willing to take a risk to save one of yours. In war, you'd send in a group of soldiers if they can save one that is in a risky situation he can't get out all on his own, even though this could mean the loss of several men. Would you not? Private Ryan anyone?

If it means giving up 1000 of the enemy, **** yeah leave men behind! Let me put it to you this way--if you could send one soldier on a suicide mission that would take out 1000 enemy troops would you do it? Yes, obviously! Otherwise you'd be putting potentially hundreds or thousands of your troops at risk. More Israelis are likely to die or be captured now. Better to cut your losses with one man and leave the terrs locked up.

                  No. It's not obvious.

This is like trading a queen and two rooks for a pawn. Or like folding when you have all four aces (Look, I don't know much about poker). It's stupid.

If I were playing a video game then I would agree with HC. If I were responsible for the lives of actual human beings then I hope that I wouldn't hold their lives so cheaply.

If the Israelian administration is loyal to it's soldiers, the soldiers will be loyal to the administration.
All Israelian soldiers know that they run the risk every day to be captured. The knowledge that their leaders will do whatever it takes to save them encourages them.

It's not only that 1 life they bought, they also bought morale and loyalty from all their other soldiers.

Honestly, I hope that HC will be a burger flipper, fish cleaner or like for the time of his living. He certainly is uncabable of leading others, even in a MacD joint
