Rescue missions are a reasonable idea if you have good enough odds of winning. Israel also has a bit of a knack for those, c.f. Entebbe.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

What if the Iraelis are planting anal probes( for tracking or remote termination) inside the released palestinians. Now that would be a win/win for them.

Israel has a knack for a lot of things, including slaughtering people and friendly fire.

There are no Palestinian Jews. The Palestinians would have murdered them by now.

                        Is it?

The argument put forward for the exchange appears to be that it will bolster morale in the military and the country as a whole.
The inevitable counter-argument is that soldiers are expected to sacrifice their lives to defend their country. If being imprisoned and even executed for their mere existence is a consequence then so be it. Death, too, is a consequence soldiers must accept on enlistment.

The result of this exchange is that terrorists will be released. Needless to say it does not strike me as strategically sound.

But people do not always think strategically; nor are they always right on every issue. Make the argument against the deal rather than condescending towards those in favour of it. Even idle banter of this type creates a habit of speech and thought that can lead to you being disrespectful to others in person.

Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

Hamas has ALREADY insinuated that it will take more hostages.
Hamas declared Tuesday a holiday, and a mural depicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreeing to the swap as a gunman kicked his face into the ground. A spokesman for Hamas’s military arm suggested that the group would continue to seek opportunities to seize Israeli soldiers.

Looking at it from the Palestinian side, how do they know they haven't received 900 prisoners and 100 Israli agents?
Even a fool is thought wise if he remains silent.

                                Get outta heah!

Seriously speaking, this seems like potentially a bad deal for Israel, yes. But then they have elections to win, don't they?

Besides, some of those 1000 are bound to be innocent and/or harmless, so it's the utilitarian thing to do after all.
