I watched the first episode of this season and thought it was decent but not really worth the time to watch. Too... American, really. None of Doctor Who's remarkable charm. It's a shame, really, I like horribly complicated scifi plots where things happen for reasons you might come to understand months later if you're lucky (can you tell I'm a fan of Homestuck?). But I can't be bothered to sit through all of the whatever it is that Torchwood has that Doctor Who doesn't.

I think both Torchwood & Dr. Who suffered from Americanization. As a Canadian, I already have a few dozen channels of made in American crap. In TV terms nowadays it could mean made trashier or dumbed down, or made more like some of the best TV ever to be made.
