The more I've read about him, the more I like him. There is too my cyncism in politics and someone to say no, I won't act that way, is deeply refreshing.

Don't know him or his preferred policies etc. But if people are taking a lesson from his example about acting in a professional manner then his passing was a loss for the greater comity that is sorely needed.

Similar in respect to my thoughts on Teddy Kennedy and his ability to find common ground.

he was the leader of the most leftist of the mainstream Canadian political parties. I call them mainstream as, although they have never governed federally, they have won several provinces through the years and do poll a respectable national vote. As such he had many typical leftist policies ( I don't recall whetehr or not they dropped the idea of nationalizing all the banks or not) with a lot redistributive type policies and were far greener than the two parties that typically govern federally. Overall think about socialists and you atre not far from their typical positions

        .
Actually many Canadians voted for him or rooted for him with the sentiment " I would never want him in power to implement his policies but I admire him personally." I believe his desire and drive were unquestioned.
