You'd hope the rebels would at least defeat the government before they started killing each other.

It was probably a quarrel about the question what funny clothes the next leader should wear.

They don't even have a government yet. People keep saying "we don't know much about the rebels" because all they have is a "council" where everyone sits down to make nice and occasionally (who am I kidding, regularly) shoot one another.
What astounds me is Obama's decision to go to war in the first place--a decision based on idle speculation about the rebels' motives, Qadaffi's motives, and a humanistic urge to "do something" couched in academic rhetoric. And all the while he predicted this campaign would be over in what was it, weeks or days? In foreign policy this President is an amateur.

As I recall it was the Europeans who pushed for it while Obama wanted to sit it out. The Italians were livid at all the boat people refugees ending up in Italy so they tried to ship them to France, France was pushing for them to be accepted in to the EU until Italy started sending them to France then the French suddenly changed their mind, while the British thought it would be a nice test case to show Europe could act on it's own without US help. The whole thing was a cluster ****.

                    And then he sat in.

I do recall Sarkozy having a bout of Heroism and the Brits following suit. You're right about Berlusconi being a total ass about sending illegal immigrants to France because he was to great a coward to tell his buddy Ghadaffi to keep them of his shores.
Germany refused to vote in favour of the resolution that allowed the intervention. Some small countries joined the bombings (Norway and Denmark IIRC) while the bulk of NATO abstained from the bombing campaign. Italy and Turkey joined much later. I'm not even sure if Turkey is bombing or just enforcing the arms embargo like the rest of NATO.

Indeed a total cluster**** which will bite the West in the ass.

It sounds like a perfectly normal intervention.
                        The usual justifications.
                        The usual stuffed up results.
I imagine the usual "bite on the bum" will be coming later.

When can we start using the telescopes in orbit to fry people with focused sunlight and blame it on global warming?
To us, it is the BEAST.

Just remember they're fighting for democracy so one day they can use the same voter surpression techniques Republicans use in America. Like the latest in Wisconsin's recall election where the Koch brother's "Americans for Prosperity" group is mailing at fake absentee ballots in an attempt to confuse voters and prevent them from voting. That's after they ran fake Democrats in the primary in an attempt to confuse voters. Way to go democracy!

Breaking news, political news, and investigative news reporting from Raw Story's team of journalists and prize-winning investigators.

Then again this would probably be illegal in most countries but in America the fascists get to do what ever they want no matter how criminal.

                              Quelle Horreur!

MILWAUKEE - Republicans and Democrats are accusing each other of playing dirty politics as we get closer to Election Day.

The Republican leaning Americans For Prosperity says it sent out 10,000 absentee ballot applications to its Wisconsin members. Some voters were asked to return it by August 11th, two days after the August 9th Republican recall elections.

"Well it was really just a typo," said Matt Seaholm, the State Director for Americans for Prosperity.

Democrats call it dirty tricks. They're filing a complaint with the state.
What is the American phrase for this? "Eating crow"?

Or "must" this be a dirty trick, because "the right" "always" engages in dirty tricks? Or is it the evil Koch Brothers behind this--those Moneybag Men Made Real, the Vile Villians of Old, the Capitalists Out To Destroy The Workers?

In the scheme of things a deliberate plot to deceive your own members is a pretty crappy campaign.

The fact that you swallow this nonsense repeatedly is unsurprising.

                              Curse those vile Republicans!
Edit: I initially put down "is amazing", but I meant "is unsurprising."

Once is an accident. Doing the exact same thing EVERY election is a pattern.
