Palestinians are being killed by Israelis. The fetus is being killed by its own mother. I'm not shocked that separate populations of humans would kill each other in competition for resources, but mothers should generally look out for the well being of their off-spring. It's fundamental to biology as we know it, that living things want to pass on their genetic material as much as possible, and give whatever advantages they can to their offspring.

In other words, it's natural to kill your rivals and abhorrent to kill your children.

The issue always comes down to the question of what a child is. A fetus is a parasite more than a child.

People will always have different definitions and different perspectives.

Which is precisely why it's not the government's business. No one is forcing you to get an abortion. "pro-life" is more big government theocracy pushing its way into a secular government. I'm just sad that some supposedly libertarian people refuse to recognize that.

As for the OP, who would be surprised by that? The Catholic church is a despicable organization, and they always have been. It's unfortunately substantially tainted my views of Catholics to a large degree. I know several people here identify as Catholics, and I know they are good people, but I just cannot reconcile that with Catholic Doctrine -- which I view as truly evil, in many ways -- and the Catholic Church's policies itself.
