I think it's just an attempt to undermine the Ben-like idea that gay men are boy rapists... boys are males so if you are a male pedophile and prefer boys over girls, you prefer males... therefore, you are of (at least partially) homosexual preference... Doesn't mean all homosexuals are pedophiles or that all pedophiles are homosexual; just some pedophiles are, just like some pedophiles are also heterosexual.

Even if you try to make an argument that sexual orientation is predicated on adults, I'm not buying it. To then turn pedophilia into its own sexual orientation seems to me to be a step closer to acceptance of that behavior.

If you want to say that gender is nothing more than which genitalia somebody has then that's fine, but be aware that many assign much more meaning to the word - there is a variety to the gender-specific mindsets of those with testes/ovaries.
