What is ironic though is that he's a guy who had a long history of battling the record company establishment and now he's like the RIAA's biggest supporter. It's a little strange.

Purple Rain is the sixth album by Prince and The Revolution, the soundtrack album to the 1984 film Purple Rain.

Purple Rain is regularly ranked among the best albums in pop music history. Time magazine ranked it the 15th greatest album of all time in 1993, and it placed 18th on VH1's Greatest Rock and Roll Albums of All Time countdown. I have always liked Prince's music. I think he stopped progressing some years back, so his hewer stuff doesn't sound "new" to me like it used to. But he made and owns his own style. Props for that.

He is immensely talented and knows it. Yeah, so big surprise, IRL he's a dick. Temperamental, egotistical artist with control issues. Imagine that!

Personally, I haven't met him. In the world of touring sound, he has personally fired more good sound engineers than anyone else I'm aware of. I know a LOT of those guys. "Been fired by Prince" is like a badge of honor. But people still want to work with him, because he's good, the gear is topnotch, and he pays well. (Tough guy to mix for, as Prince happens to be a damned fine engineer himself.) I'm told he's demanding and impatient, and a bit of a micromanager.

You don't achieve what he has without being a bit of a diva. At least he's straight-up about it.
