I can see how you might think construction work is a difficult thing to learn to do.

And then there are those combat engineers in lotsa militaries. Sure, sometimes they destroy. But they also build a lot.

Leave it to Poly to take seriously a flippant response to a stupid argument.

We're not talking about fixed costs, but specific campaign costs.

            Disingenuous, stupid, or both?

I have the same question about your "people use healthcare and retire, so the government simply has to fund both" argument.

                    OK.

Iraq was easier to avoid than general Medicare and retirement costs.

Therefore whatever was spent there could have been saved, and it would have been a net gain, while in the other case you're shifting the costs on the individual consumer - and those who can't afford, just don't get.

The fact that Medicare insulates individual consumers from the costs of their healthcare is one of its greatest flaws. The fact that it takes money from relatively poorer segments of society and transfers it to a relatively wealthier segment of society is another. Elderly people do need healthcare, but that in no way justifies the piss-poor system we have now and the deleterious effect it has on the US federal government's fiscal position. In summation, your argument was either disingenuous, stupid, or both. Which is it?

We're not talking about the money involved anymore.

                        Thanks.

Just admit you didn't make any sense and you're trying to start an altogether different debate.

We didn't have a debate before. You said something stupid (or, less likely, disingenuous) and I was mocking you.

If one accepts this premise, must one also acknowledge that Osama bin Laden has won the War on Terror?
We have had the long standing military force since before Osama so that is not the case. I have to stand with Drake et al on this one, the boomers won the war on terror against America.
