Iraq was easier to avoid than general Medicare and retirement costs.

The fact that Medicare insulates individual consumers from the costs of their healthcare is one of its greatest flaws. The fact that it takes money from relatively poorer segments of society and transfers it to a relatively wealthier segment of society is another. Elderly people do need healthcare, but that in no way justifies the piss-poor system we have now and the deleterious effect it has on the US federal government's fiscal position. In summation, your argument was either disingenuous, stupid, or both. Which is it?
