  • Introduce me to good rock music

Cause supposedly the rock songs I like are garbage.

Post a song and I'll give it a listen and see if I like it.

And no "Oy! Oy!" garbage that I've heard from Thoth. I don't like that.

What kind of Rock? Can you be more specific? Or do you know someone you like already?

If you go to www.allmusic.com and run a search on..., oooooh, Led Zeppelin, at the bottom will be "Influenced By" and "Similar Artists". You can surf your ass off. Do it for Eric Clapton. I would, if I were you.

Well I'm already pretty familiar with what you like from the music thread.

I'm referring to Asher's, Dauphin's, etc. comments about there being better rock music than what I like. I don't know what kind they're talking about.

I don't think it matters. People like different things. Try Pixies. I think they liked them.

Good idea but that would just show me groups similar to the ones I already like. Apparently, what I like is flawed and I need to open up my horizons, which I can't do if I'm looking only for what's similar to what I already know.

First rule: American rock, with a few exceptions, SUCKS.

Brit rock, however, is terrific. Beatles, Stones, Who, Pink Floyd, Clapton (and all his various bands), Kinks, Clash, Sex Pistols... and that's just scratching the surface.

The music is fine. It actually has a certain Motown sound to it. The guy can not sing well, though. I've heard of Bob Dylan before and I think I've heard that he's not known as being a good singer. He's really talking the latter verses, not singing. I mean, obviously, I have no problem with that, but dude doesn't have a good voice for pseudo-rapping and the way he pauses is awkward. If you're going to be talk-singing, I hate to say you need filler, but you need to make sure you have enough syllables to fill up the bars to avoid awkward pauses. I guess I will be mocked for critiquing the delivery of apparently the best rock singer in history or something but if this is the best rock song ever, it could stand some musical improvement. I do like some of the relatively (and relatively is a strong word here) rapid-fire rhyme schemes he used though.

The guy's voice is a big turn-off though and the song is fundamentally boring. Not my cup of tea.

I'm still going to play it though for my own personal enjoyment.
