Yeah that's why I said, "Although we do ascribe human worth to those without that level of intelligence"...
I suppose my mentality would posit that 10 fully functional human beings are more valuable than 10 mentally retarded ones... but I think that's a better mentality than Heraclitus' 10 Slovenians are more valuable than 10 Mandarins.
Has he ever actually said that?

"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi
Ah, you didn't get the reference, because otherwise it is appropriate to post something funnier than the reference.
It's a applicable quote from Futurama.
“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
"Capitalism ho!"
I'm not familiar with Star Trek so I can't be sure but aren't most of these aliens pretty much like humans? Like Spock is logical and detached but is still essentially human.
We're not talking potentially real aliens that could be completely alien to us; I thought we're talking in the context of Star Trek. Again, I'm not familiar enough to know if the aliens in the show are that alien or if they're like humans but taking a particularly philosophical viewpoint to the extreme (like Spock and stoicism).
My argument was about real aliens. Vulcans are fucntionally just another race of humans as far as (fictional) phenotype goes, if not the underlying (fictional) biochemistry.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila
