I have two friends in real life who are in investment banking. Both had extensive experience in fields some how related to what they do (one really was in a junior role at an investment banking firm while the other had a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering plus six years working for a major chip manufacturer and electronics firm [Qualcomm]) BEFORE they went to B-school. One went to Harvard and the other went to Northwestern for B-school. I'm willing to bet no one they know in B-school had military experience or if they did it wasn't their only real experience. You don't get into the top firms based on military experience because *SURPRISE!* business schools want you to have business experience.

I'm not ****ing with him at all. Tradesman get damned good hourly wage, plus the initial service call. "You're not getting any heat because the pilot isn't lit. That will be $40. Would you like me to light it? Make it $50."

        Or any government job.
Law school isn't very useful or very well paying unless you go to a top law school. Seriously, out here in California the average law school grad makes around $25k per year and that's why there are so many ambulance chasers. If you go to a top law school then you can write your own checks but if you go to a third rate law school the odds are you're in for a hard scrabble life.

Al should give up on becoming a banker. I wouldn't want him handling my money.

And yet in my employment, I've been put in charge of a restaurant budget.

I'm sure you can figure out what a restaurant needs to buy. But if I had money to invest, I wouldn't give it to you.
