If the military makes a weapon known to the public, it's because it's old news to them. Something better is already being produced. I worked for defense electronics for 12 years, and may be going back into it. Take my word for it.

Interesting. Makes sense. I always wondered why most defense projects seem to date back several decades.

According to BBC news the helicopter was coated with a top-secret fabric to reduce it's radar signature, and sported a top-secret rotor hub that reduced both the noise and the radar signature of the rotors. They then shoewd pictures of Pakistani children collecting piecs of the fabric and the rotor hub being hauled away. The rumor is that they will be given to the Chinese.

Yeah, I'm not terribly concerned. China doesn't even have any domestically-designed helicopters. They also don't have the avionics.

Also I'm skeptical about the radar-signature part. I think it's more likely to be infrared than radar, and the news has it wrong. But obviously I have no proof, and neither do they.

They may be able to reduce a radar and IR signatures and but it's pretty hard to imagine a helicopter that is "stealthy". There's nothing you can do about the main rotor.

I heard a minor conspiracy theory on the radio according to which Osama was not hiding, he was a prisoner of Pakistan, that Pakistan held him captive there for years without telling the USA because they thought it would be the less problematic thing. And also to continue getting american money. So, the men killed would have been pakistani secret services and not al qaeda terrorists.

Anyway, even if that were true it wouldn't make a difference. It was obvious that Bin Laden was going to die and not be captured because he knew too much, I don't mean truther 9/11 stuff but stuff about the Saudi royal family, who financed him etc

That might be quieter in audio frequencies but even assuming a rotor could be built using such principles it would not be "stealthy" in the same was as the F-117 or B2 are. To a radar, a helicopter main rotor is like the torch from the Statue of Liberty.
