I had a higher paying, more respectable job for years before this.

I'm basically going back to my college days job.

I would call in sick the first week and see if I could get promoted again. If it's not broke, don't fix it!

This. You can dump them before they dump you. However, at your current rate of ascent, you might want to stay on as CFO & chairman if you can delay your plans for a few weeks.

What's funny is there's a spammer going around saying "good job. wish you continued success."

Interesting that he didn't post in here yet

Al, a job is a job, and even if it is less than you were getting paid before, being employed (in a legal profession, that is) is ALWAYS more respectable than unemployment.

It's past 11:30 and you have school in the morning! What the hell are you doing? Where's the parents at?

                  Senioritis

Although now I can't take the high road on employment with Alby as I still don't have a job locked down myself for this summer. Job I had planned on (one I had last summer) no longer exists because of the continuing resolutions (**** you democrats). And I have a relatively short summer since FCPS lets out in June but I'm going to college next year.

So as soon as there's no consequences, you don't care and do whatever? Says a lot about your character.

Ring of Gyges and all that...

although Gyges ended up being a king and getting everything he wanted... I think the fable was told wrong.

Actually, truth be told, I have been working harder in the last two or three weeks than I have in my entire life. I literally did almost nothing but matrix algebra all last week (which was spring break). Of course it's my fault because I fell behind on homework...

And hold on a minute, who are you to lecture me about laziness? You're the man who's nearing what, 30 years old, and is just now getting employed? I'm 18, admitted to college, had two jobs, and am already saving for retirement.

My promotion was effective today, and I spent 75% of my time in meetings and the 20% of my time arranging meetings (hard to schedule meetings with people in Calgary, Ottawa, and Mumbai), and 5% of my time coding.

Umm... I didn't lecture you on laziness. I lectured you on being a bad student who stays up late at night having fun because you're almost done high school (senioritis) and you know your grades or school performance from here on out won't have any bearing on anything.

That is, there are no consequences for your actions so you don't care... that's why I alluded to Gyges.

There are in fact consequences for my actions. That's why I've been so busy for the last three weeks....

                            Lesson learned, laziness=bad
