Now the wing nuts love to talk about "anchor babies" (supposed cases where pregnant Mexican women sneak into the US so the baby becomes a US citizen so they can sign up for welfare) but CNN has a totally different take.
They're saying maternity tourism is common and growing but it is mostly very wealthy foreign women who do it. They're saying some foreign women spend up to $50,000 for the whole thing just so they can make sure their child has US citizenship as a kind of insurance policy if things go to hell in their home country. Interesting stuff.
