I sincerely hope this part's just ****ty journalism. On what possible grounds could they be authorized to physically detain them, as opposed to simply threatening not to come the next time they cry wolf? Maybe the same statutes that criminalize calling regular 911 without good cause, but where is there any sign that this "rescue crew" even has authority to arrest anyone? I smell a lawsuit in the works.
    Unbelievable!

If these ****s, on top of being the dickheads they are, also sue the state's rescue services, we live in a ****ed up country.

Wait how old is this story? The link Lonestar posted says April 20, 2011, but the EXACT article, with EXACT headline was published on MSN and on Komonews.com in Oct. 2009

I imagine its the same statute that allows them to issue citations for crating hazardous conditions for rescue crews

Bill them and embarrass them. Publish the details on the agency's website, with photos. Send a copy to the evacuees' local paper. And/or make them do community service.

I thought there were restrictions on who was allowed to attempt the Royal Arch Loop. Seems like there should be.

Fly out to their site, shoot them each twice in the head, let the coyotes take care of the details.

That would be a rescue everybody involved could feel good about.

No. You pay for an ambulance. You pay for Care Flight. But if you have to be rescued doing something stupid, evidently it's free.

so what is up with that Nashua Telegraph re-running a two year old story as if it was recent? Unethical?

The comparisons to Onstar are prophetical. It sounds like an opportunity for the parks services or a private company to provide rescue services, for pay.

Sure, but a citation is just that. Detaining someone is a different story and I'd be surprised if this rescue crew was made up of cops.
