“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

I envision the show ending with the blonde queen flying into the capital on her dragon, one tit hanging out of her battle-torn clothes.

I don't think there would have been much of a point in a 3rd Rome season. The most interesting chapter in Roman history had ended, and the story of how Octavian laid the foundations for the empire, smacking a few barbarians along the way, just isn't as exciting.

They were supposedly going to do the Jewish Rebellion and the destruction of the Temple Mount in season three and were working their way up to it in Season 2 but Season 2 got cut short and then the show was cancelled. Basically, it was just costing too much and ratings went down so HBO told them they had to wrap it up in two episodes when they thought they still had five episodes to go in the season.

Meh, good thing they kept it to two seasons then.

                    • Rome was about as historically accurate as Mel Brooks' History of the World Part 1. But that's okay.

I admit I've never seen Mel Brooks' History of the World Part 1, but I believe it's more accurate.
