Yep. Pretty obviously so if you look at how much revenue was lost from them and the deficit now.

There's either genuine stupidity on behalf of people who thought they were a good thing, or they simply believe that they don't care if the government goes into debt as long as their taxes are low. I honestly think most Republicans are in the latter. I've seen very little genuine interest in balancing a budget from most Republicans, they seem most interested in keeping their taxes low while funding lots of things to the extreme (like the military).

He seems to be mixing up deficit and debt.
      John Brown did nothing wrong.

Yeah, saying that Bush's wars added a trillion to the deficit would seem to indicate that.

          Seems to be so.

Paul Ryan also owns an iPad, thus discrediting anything he has to say in my eyes.

Tax raises and tax cuts are not the issue. Even if you can balance the budget via tax increases or tax decreases this year, doesn't mean you have solved the problem. The real problem is out of control spending, and this is what the Paul Ryan budget addresses (well, partially, it doesn't go far enough). If we magically balanced the budget this year (won't happen), there is ZERO doubt that the federal government would have it significantly out of balance within 5 years. You have to curb federal power if you are truly interested in curbing the deficit.

Given the sheer size of the deficit, I don't see how Elmo and Big Bird are part of the spending problem.

Perhaps because they simply get used as a means to demogogue spending cuts of any sort in order to make claims of unserious approach.

That's a pretty weak defense of keeping liberal slush funds around.

Why do you hate children's television?

Childrens' television brainwashes kids into believing into communist concepts such as sharing. Children should be informed at an early age that it is inappropriate to share -- it is every man for themselves.

That would make the Christian right happy.

You really are brain damaged, aren't you? NPR and PBS are "a liberal slush fund"? Jesus, please just kill yourself so we won't have to listen to more nonsense.

Yes. They believe in lovoing thy neighbour, but only if thy neighbour is a young boy. The more devout, the more loving. This is fact.
