Fully agree - police should be the first to report crimes amongst own rank. Though, I hadn't expect them to go to this extreme. Your RCMP's must be well trained.

The impound problem arises as the law targets the owner of the vehicle (another problem) and doesn't exempt public vehicles.

Scary films? Mutilated crash survivors to scare you strait?

I live in the developed part of the country. Ontario has its own police force. The RCMP have to beat people to death elsewhere in the country.

I'm a bit curious - where in britain is it possible to go 291 km/h ?

Well, that explains a lot - I thought that you were pulling my leg by claiming that the police horses could go above 50 km/h

Google image "canadian $50 bill reverse" and look for the one of the Mounties in circle on horse.

Ok. That makes sense. Annoying, yes, but it could be worse. There are some nutcases here that want to make the owner responsible for speeding if a speed trap can't identify the driver

The owner here can be responsible for the fine amount on a photo-radar speed charge (traced through plate number) but no demerit points apply. A speed charge laid by officer is the only one that can carry demerits and can only apply to the driver (fine and points). For this reason the photo radar is rightly viewed as a cash grab.
