Would you please STFU? What are you trying to do? Do you want more of them down here?

I'm not sure what he said, but it sounds like he's going to be an arrogant ***** like Krazy Horse.

To make a somewhat idealistic point, EVERYTHING is impossible, until someone decides to do it.

In other words, 400 years ago, the technology of modern society was impossible, inconceivable. And yet, here we are.

I get it - that's not a scientific argument. I'm just saying, the fact that we can't understand how something could be possible does not preclude the possibility that it is possible. The corollary to that is that the only guarantee that it isn't possible, is if we don't try to achieve it. Right?

Read the article Ries provided. What economic incentives can you think of that would make interstellar colonization profitable/worthwhile?

For a start, we would need cheap faster than light travel for it to be at all economical. Umh, the problem is we would need an interstellar drive out of a science novel, somethink way out like a hyperspace drive. That is unfortunately purely fictional. Who knows what is possible, science is still in it's infancy.

Secondly, we would need to find a habitable planet. Said planet might have life forms that were hostile. Think of the Terran germs in "War of the Worlds" that wiped out all of the Martian invaders.

We won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Do we need faster-than-light interstellar travel though, if in the future, humans have some kind of deep-freeze technology available?
