I'm sure tar sands development is so native friendly.
Next: Asher links to an article detailing everything done by the AB government in favor of natives, bla bla bla, article biased, then I link to an article detailing every goodie offered by Hydro-Quebec to natives, bla bla bla bias, etc.In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

To everyone:
a) The net transfer is $5B, not $8B. I'm tired of this ****, do your ****ing homework.
Asher and NYE:
b) equalization is just progressive taxation that works through the intermediate layer of provincial governments. Taxation in Canada is already highly progressive, GET OVER IT.In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

Tell me, which tribes live(d) on oil sands land?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

You've provided nothing at all.
The net transfer is $8B, as per the Government of Canada website, until I see something more specific.

More proof.
Quebec receives $17.4B in federal money in 2011. $7.815B of it comes from "Equalization" payments. Total federal funding per capita is $2,189
Alberta receives $3.4B in federal money in 2011. $0.00 of it comes from "Equalization" payments. Total federal funding per capita is $913.
Stop playing ****ing games and deal with reality. Quebec is an obvious and undeniable leach.
Also:
Ontario receives $17.85B in federal money in 2011. $2.2B of it comes from "Equalization" payments. Total federal funding per capita is $1,337.
Alberta is subsidizing the rest of Canada in a massive way. And still we get no respect with constant calls from Quebec & the Liberals to cripple the industry that is not only bringing Alberta great wealth, but paying for your ****ing government services as well."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Keep in mind, not only is Alberta receiving the least amount per capita by a big margin from the federal government...we're contributing the most per capita by a big margin TO the federal government. We're getting screwed both ways. Quebec is the big winner in both categories, and still they whine for more money."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I'd also love for you to explain how the recent changes to equalization benefited Alberta in any way, considering we continue to get $0 in equalization payments as we have for many decades in a row...
BTW, $7.815B is an improvement for Quebec. In 2010 you got $8.5B."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

You are using the wrong figures.
Those are transfers*. You need to look at the taxes collected by the federal government and the dollars spent per province.
* Some transfers are the result of special arrangements where a province opts out of a federal program and gets the money instead, in ordre to fund an already existing (and similar) provincial initiative. In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

The TRANSFERS are over $17B.
The money from EQUALIZATION specifically is $7.8B.
The link is 100% official from the Government itself and specifically breaks it down by category to show Alberta received $0 from Equalization and Quebec received $7.8B. Get over it.
If we look at the dollars collected vs dollar spent per province, Alberta gets even MORE screwed. I am being generous by only taking issue to how much money each province receives instead of how much money each province gives."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

If Canada were a unitary country (like France) you could not associate these transfers with regionalisms. In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.

****ING DUMBASS.
EQUALIZATION IS DRAWN FROM THE GENERAL FEDERAL BUDGET.
QUEBEC CONTRIBUTES TO FEDERAL TAXES. THE EXTENT TO WHICH WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FEDERAL BUDGET (~20%) IS NOT A TRANSFER.

Canada is not a unitary country. Alberta owns its resources, not Canada. You indirectly benefit from it still. And still you give no respect."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Alberta gets $0 in equalization. Quebec gets $7.8B. You are arguing you pay taxes so that shouldn't count. That's not the case.
Why don't you show me an official link which backs up what you are claiming."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

If you want the real figure, look at this link:
Statistics Canada. 2007. Provincial and Territorial Economic Accounts: Data Tables. Detailed data tables: Table 7 Federal Government Revenue and Expenditure, Quebec, 1981 to 2007
You get federal revenues and spendings for Quebec (in/outs).
Before you all go berzerk over some figures from the 80s and 90s, remember that a lot of this money is deficit spending. In Soviet Russia, Fake borises YOU.
