Android is getting apps faster than iOS is.

A year ago the argument was iOS had more marketshare. Apps lag the market by a year or two.

Android is cruising well past iOS in marketshare. It's inevitable the same happens for apps. Just as Windows has far more apps than Mac.

The fact that Apple squeezes devs for money and has ridiculous, arbitrary and ever-changing restrictions is just expediting the process. What is the case now will not be the case one year from now.

Apple took an innovative, ground-breaking, market-leading product in the Macintosh and practiced the same business model now (not even to the same degree!) and lost the market to the PC. They're repeating the exact same mistakes now. To be honest, they probably don't care as long as they find millions of people dumb enough to part with their money for Apple products.

    • Their current model is to innovate, sell a massively expensive cutting edge product* for a number of years and time the next product for when the market catches up with what they've done or people start to realise what the restrictions are.

And they do have a lot of fanatical fan boys and girls who'll buy any old **** if it has an apple badge on it.

*although often it's just nice packaging, or a rething of existing technologies.

Similarly, we had to remove feedback when people used multi-touch gestures to zoom in and out of our page because Apple Legal says it violates one of their patents.

Apple is extremely evil. They are inarguably the most evil out of the big tech companies these days. They're extremely restrictive and extremely arrogant.
Apple outsourced a chunk of Snow Leopard and Lion to the company we work for(Major American Defense Contractor).

          APPLE: BLOOD MONEY.

When I found that out(as in, people in my building worked on it) I pretty much vowed never to buy a OSX machine for personal use.

You misunderstand, when I found out the specific people who worked on part of OSX my confidence in the product dropped like a rock.

Yeah, most bars and lounges have wi-fi but night clubs don't.

From my experience with Lion, they are slowly doing so.

Did you know if you're using a laptop without a mouse connected, scroll bars do not appear until you start scrolling (using the trackpad, of course).

They also inexplicably and arbitrarily flipped mouse wheel scrolling. To scroll down the page now, you must scroll up on the wheel. I'm not joking.

Windows 7 w/ PowerShell. Add an optional Ubuntu VM, and voila.

                            • OS X's utility as a unix system is overrated. I always need to install MacPorts to get what I want, which isn't any different from installing Cygwin on Windows.

For instance, the svn client Apple includes is always out of date and inexplicably not compiled with all modules. I can't connect to any of my company's https-secured SVN repositories with OS X's svn client, I need to use MacPorts' version then delete the OS X one and replace it.
