  • Albie, you've gone through OCS twice unsuccessfully. No matter WHAT you were told in the past, this reflects negatively on your chances of going through OCS a third time. Meanwhile you're sitting at home(with who, your parents?), unemployed, becoming less marketable by the day. Freakin' suck it up and enlist, or try another service.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

He's managed to memorize all six Star Wars movies, and he will be able to bond with the children at the country he will eventually occupy by reciting the lines and enacting crucial scenes. It's little things like that which make the Marines more desirable than the Army or (LOL) Navy.

Not really. Do you work for MCRC? Are you an OSO? No. So you don't know of what you speak.

I've never seen those movies and I've been doing things while unemployed. Nothing military related but I've been writing a lot.

See, let anyone else here write and no one says anything but I expect a lot of ****ing bull**** attacking me as usual. Whatever.

No, it's just unlike you, I've been in the military and continue to work with the military in a civilian capacity. Do you really think that when soemone reviews your package they don't look negatively on you failing to complete OCS twice? If I saw that I would think that you were malingering. I would take into account that there are literally thousands of NROTC and recent college grads out there who are an unknown quality(e.g. haven't failed to pass OCS). I would take into account that there are thousands of enlisted Marines who have already shown that they have what it takes to be a Marine, and so should be moved ahead of you on the waiting list. And fo course the USMC is probably going to face a shrinkage in end strength in the next few years or so, so there won't be as big a need for a swarm of JOs anyway.

Are you planning on making a Career out of the USMC? Then enlisting and then becoming a mustang won't materially affect your retirement date anyway. If you are absolutely fixated on being a Marine, then just enlist. If you want to be an officer, well, there are 4 other services out there and they are all just as good.

As it is, like I asked, are you just sitting at home being unemployed and navel gazing? Who is paying your bills?

How would I be malingering and I'm applying a third time? That shows ****ing dedication and commitment.

And I have money saved up.

              Albie,

Doesn't matter. Medical discharge twice sounds like a severe case of pussitis to most Marine officers. And you didn't answer any of my questions about why you want to be in the Marines, if you want it to be a career, why you want to be an officer, etc. And I'm sure you have money saved up. Who is paying for your day-to-day? Where are you living?

A very constructive comment, something Albie should read very closely.

Also, Albie, this may have some connection with you not getting replies to your job applications. Try leaving out mentioning two attempts at OCS when applying for jobs. Bear in mind the dude reading your application has little, if any idea, of exactly what goes on at OCS or a boot camp etc. If I saw an application with two failed attempts then I would, as Lonestar mentioned, probably just go on to the next of umpteen applications. Why because it is down, not positive.

Like I said, one, it is very common. Two, my medical record gets sent to the selection board as well. They'll see fractures in tibiae.

I'm paying for my day-to-day. I have money. I still have $3000 or so sitting in the bank.

I had it to explain gaps in employment but I removed that stuff from my resume months ago when Jon Miller mentioned something about it might not being a good idea.

Whether it is malingering or dedication might not make any practical difference. The outcome might be the same. Refer to my previous post.

How did you know? just j/k. What I meant was the gaps, tell them you were sick with something. When my wife became sick I had to take some time off. I told them I had a bad case of chicken pox. They did not question me further.
