Not even sure if they wanted me for ROTC or enlisted or anything or how it works. One moment I'm doing my matrix algebra homework, then I get a call on my cell phone. "Hi, I'm John from the United States Marines." Cue my confusion. Apparently my friends signed me up for their recruiting list as a prank.
I felt kinda bad for the recruiter, he seemed kinda sad when I said I wasn't interested and it was a mix-up. I wonder if that's just part of their psychological getting-you-to-risk-your-life thing or if he was genuinely disappointed.
How does this whole military recruiting thing work anyway? Do you just say "YEAH! SEMPER FI MAKE ME A MARINE" and then you go to boot camp and then you have gay sex and then you get stuck on a ship or fight in Afghanistan? I'm kind of surprised they bother to personally call people who are on their list. Is that normal?
