Huh? My post was only half-serious at best. Sensationalism is just silly to me, not annoying.

Alls I know about the abortion debate is that banning it would mean somewhat less sex for everyone else, and for me, proportionally, much much more. That's good enough for me.
    Unbelievable!

Darius, do state laws trump federal laws?

No, with some limited exceptions; more importantly, why are you asking questions that have nothing to do with anything?

It has to do with the idea that the Republican in Georgia even thinks that a state can prohibit abortion, when federal law makes abortion legal.

I'm more shocked that you brazenly assume that he actually thinks that. Maybe it's just throwing a bone to pro-life constituents with the full knowledge that it wouldn't fly in court were it to be passed, which it wouldn't be anyway. The fact that courts have dealt with countless abortion laws with varying degrees of intrusion since Roe shows that futile wastes of time like this for mere political theater are fairly common.

              MAYBE... YAH THINK

That's all this is about... looking good to the people that elected you. It happens all the time. This is really a non story.
The only story here is the typical Politician playing up to his supporters.

Yeah, I probably should have put "maybe" in quotes but from MrFun's posts I figured I'd meet him halfway to hope it might ignite some, you know, thought. Non-story is damned right.

What federal law legalizes abortion? I thought it was just a SCOTUS opinion that decided the Constitution protected abortions.

Would it be unconstitutional to extend legal personhood to a fetus? If corporations can have freedom of speech, surely a fetus can have its own rights upheld by the courts.

Ah, I thought MrFun was referring to some bill that became a law through the democratic process.

Naw, it wasn't passed like that Brown V. Board Act of 1954 was.

Or like that Dred Scott v. Sandford law that made sure them uppity ******s knew their place. In fact, Dred Scott v. Sandford is similar to Roe v. Wade, because it arbitrarily denied a whole class of human beings legal protection and personhood.

I'm so glad we have a Supreme Court that always makes the right decisions. It'd be horrible if the people's elected representatives were involved in forming laws. Who knows what sort of mischief they'd get into?

We are talking Congress, right? The same body that likes to cut taxes but not spending and then wonder why the deficit is so big? Yeah, we know the mischief they can get into.
