I thought the whole point of the giant cooling towers used at every US plant was to minimize "heat pollution". Nuclear reactors are steam technology, which is inherently very inefficient. Most of the energy produced by the reactor is waste, only a small fraction gets converted into electricity. If you use the ocean as a reservoir for waste heat you're going to have a sizeable zone where the usual native ocean lifeforms can't survive. That's why the US uses cooling towers waste heat is transferred to the air, then the hot air is diluted with cooler air before exiting the top of the tower."I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!
