  • This will make your heart break.

Not sure it would bother Dashi. I think he has no heart. IMHO

          • Why did they put a nuclear plant right on the coast? Surely they weren't dumping spent steam water in the ocean?

            • great cooling reservoir... I think

I heard they just buried Chernobyl with sand and concrete, some talking head said they should do it here if they cant get water pumping

Every nuke is near a major body of water be it natural or man made.

Dumping waste heat via heat exchangers is not the same thing as dumping radioactive steam into the ocean.

                  • I dont remember much water out at Palos Verde in AZ, I was there in the early 80s when they were building it. I think they had to build a reservoir and probably pump water up from the table below

                      • I thought the whole point of the giant cooling towers used at every US plant was to minimize "heat pollution". Nuclear reactors are steam technology, which is inherently very inefficient. Most of the energy produced by the reactor is waste, only a small fraction gets converted into electricity. If you use the ocean as a reservoir for waste heat you're going to have a sizeable zone where the usual native ocean lifeforms can't survive. That's why the US uses cooling towers waste heat is transferred to the air, then the hot air is diluted with cooler air before exiting the top of the tower.

Isn't the same true for any powerplant?
