Please distinguish between choices and the consequences of those choices and you will see what I mean.

Using your example, if you choose to punch a cop the consequences are that you are likely to thrown in the clink and may get a thump with the nightstick. You didn't choose the thump or the jailhouse but you did choose a decision with those likely consequences. The decision to thump the copper is the key point. Why did you do that? The jailing is then not your decision.

There are a whole range of reasons why people might eat in a way that leads to obesity. Not necessarily all due to weakness of will or stupidity or ignorance.

There are plenty of good reasons to eat: hunger, boredom, wanting to be the world's fattest man.

Eating crap food and lots of it is a decision. Are you saying you think in America people are forced to eat this stuff?

try to eat that stuff in Ethiopia, and you will find it's not that easy to find

on the other hand, in a society where watching TV is social norm, where you are bombarded with junk food ads, where working 60+ hours a week in a chair, no movement but lots of stress is the norm, where food is one of the few forms of "positive experience" in day to day life... it is more natural to get fat, and harder to stay slim.

Does not mean it is impossible, but it is easier to stay slim if your line of work is being a forest ranger, rather than a bank clerk... put a lot of people like that together, and you get a "way of life" concept you are so strongly trying to ignore... and for some reason most of the people chose making money over staying slim... not that you cannot do both, but it takes a lot more effort and is a lot easier to have either one or the other.

Actually, Imran has slimmed down a bit. I remember his old pictures and he was pretty pudgy. Not anymore.
