      Another relevant Ogie contribution. Hilarious.

How cute. But Ogie, I'll only do this when you post nonsense just to make a lame political attack.

No, I'm not counting on SS for retirement, but I think it would amount to outright theft for me not to get some of the promised money after being responsible for over 100s of thousands in contributions.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

And I'm not allowed to feel betrayal about it?

                    You'd be foolish to.

This is really only relevant because NPR is among the programs being targeted with loss of funding but when are people going to stop saying stupid things in public in an age when cameras are everywhere.

What's our deficit, something like 1.5 trillion dollars? Ah, what the hell. You're only off by six orders of magnitude. No big deal.

Before you continue being a sarcastic *****, he didn't say how many millions. Perhaps millions of millions, who knows? But giving subsidies to profitable organisations seems like a stupid thing to do. Why do you, as a country, continue to support the Republicans...this is a complete mystery to me.

When I first started paying into SS in the 70s the promise was still there. I've not planned on getting anything for a long time but the sense of betrayal has never quite gone away. For me it probably won't make a difference but I guarantee you that many middle class Americans approaching retirement are going to get screwed. Outright theft.
And because of the all the older voters, politicians are still not being totally honest about it.

Why not? Why subsidise the oil industry, which seems to be pretty profitable to me, especially at these record oil prices.

                                Sorry, how old are you?

SS should pay out mostly or entirely, in your lifetime, if you are about 60.
