I have a book with the title "The Ghurkas: The World's Most Feared Soldiers". That is not without reason...they well earned their reputation.
But honestly, I don't think it's possible to really compare all these elite units. If you had a death match between the world's most elite units, they would ensure each others mutual destruction.

So in the US the Marines aren't part of the Navy!!
In the UK, Royal Marines are part of the Navy. I guess I assumed it was the same. So Marines can't become SEALS.
