Apolyton posters (except for the aptly named Slowwhand) murdered 50 wpm. I was at 99 wpm, Asher at 98 wpm, Dave Floyd at 91, Ben at 67, etc.

I just scanned the first one and got bored. But a few quick points of advice:

1. Show accomplishments. Don't just list what you did, tell them the results of your actions. Also, there's a bit where you just copied a bullet point, don't do that.

2. Make it one page. You have a lot of jobs listed. A lot!!! Kill some of the earlier stuff that not relevant to the jobs you are applying for. Or just try to condense them into one heading. (see you've done this in the second one, good)

3. Put the months in your dates of employment

4. You've got to make the first part more catchy. Some people write a short summary of skills in a few sentences that basically sum up their highlights. You can list specific computer skills and stuff later. This allows your to fill your bullet points for each job with accomplishments. Depending on where you are applying the Abe Lincoln stuff is interesting and will make recruiters read more.

5. Can you speak Spanish? Put your fluency level under your skills

A couple of people who consulted with me at a local Iowa Workforce center said that I should make my resume more concise by doing various things, one of them was to eliminate the months of my previous jobs I held.

I am a brutal typist. Hence my usual short posts. By the time I complete a long post the thread will be two pages further along.

That said, I am not the worst. My father is in his late 60's and he just bought his first computer. He called me up for information on the "@" key.

Okay this is about helping MrFun, not having a typing speed competition

You would try to just pass me, wouldn't you? Not content with 98 wpm and 1 wpm behind me, you just had to take it again and get 100 with FOUR mistakes, mind you! That could prevent you from getting a performance bonus in the data entry world!

I would take it again but my laptop has a chiclet keyboard that is notorious for mis-keys and so it wouldn't be my best.

What level of familiarity is considered proficient or advanced?

I mean I've used Excel heavily, for example, but I'm not really familiar with VBA...

I'd hate to put myself at proficient and some ****** who can do =average( ) thinks he's proficient.
