Someone has clearly never looked at a map of southeast DC before.

Huh? What does that even mean?

Is that relevant to any of this?

According to Wikipedia, SE DC is a high-crime area. Maybe you're trying to say this part of LA is analogous in crime?

This homicide took place at Museum Row in the Miracle Mile neighborhood of Los Angeles. I see nothing on wikipedia indicating that the Miracle Mile neighborhood is a high-crime area.

Although the preponderance of shopping malls and the development in the 1960s of financial and business districts in downtown and Century City lessened the Miracle Mile's importance as a retail and business center, the area has retained its vitality thanks to the addition of several museums and commercial high-rises. The Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, (LACMA) A+D Museum: Los Angeles, and La Brea Tar Pits museums, among others, positioned "Museum Row" on the Miracle Mile as a rival to Exposition Park.
The Miracle Mile District is one of the city's more densely populated areas, but is considerably more affluent than other high-density neighborhoods like Westlake and Koreatown.

Are the police and investigators really that incompetent?
Problem with rappers dying is everyone wants to kill them.

If this were an actor who was murdered in the exact same circumstances, I think all your responses would be a little different. Maybe you would have the same low level of interest in the death of this celebrity but you definitely wouldn't be posting nothing but snide comments.

It doesn't matter that it was a rapper. Have any famous person murdered in those circumstances and there being evidence that police officers were involved combined with no suspects after 14 years... put two and two together. Act like this isn't a police force with a history of corruption.

Why would I care any more about an actor than a rapper? Neither are human beings.

Did I not just say "Maybe you would have the same low level of interest in the death of this celebrity"?!??!?!?!?!!?

But you all wouldn't be posting nothing but snide comments.

Sure I would. If you'd like, I can post snide remarks about David Carradine, or I can post snide remarks about Holocaust victims, or I can post snide remarks about the small child who just died of starvation in Rwanda. None of these people matter, partly because they're dead, and partly because the sheer magnitude of apathy expressed by most humans on Earth completely dwarfs the true feelings expressed by the few people that were actually close to the dead.

But the relevancy of this thread is NOT due to any feelings with regards to Christopher Wallace so your examples are meaningless. The relevancy is due to the allegations that police officers were implicated in the murder and that the police and investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department either incompetently mishandled a homicide investigation or deliberately covered up evidence indicating police involvement.

That's the story! Not oh isn't it terrible that he was murdered! No. It's that the police were involved.

But the fact that he's a rapper makes you and Asher and others act like ****ing dimwit *******s.

I'm not at all surprised that the LAPD are incompetent and/or corrupt. What else is there to say?

I disagree. Some actors do qualify as human, with the obvious exception of rappers who go on to become actors. Also, anybody who goes on a talk show and whines at the audience about a Big Social Problem that the whiner knows almost nothing about and has personally done nothing to solve. But a lot of them have yet to forfeit their most basic human rights in that fashion.

Apolyton is such a nice place where posters espouse that whole professions of people should be denied basic human rights.

Good to know, Elok, that you are in favor of certain people being denied human rights due to their career choice/talent/views, etc.

So in your mind, the murder of Christopher Wallace should go unsolved because it was not a crime because he forfeited his human rights by being a rapper?

Why is this a surprise to you? Rappers not being human is a core tenet of Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

Well, yes and no. We place strong emphasis on the logos, the word of God, Christ as the eternally-proceeding divine message. It is held by some that, as the only words coming out of rappers' mouths are foul, uncouth, and full of forced rhymes, the image and likeness of God must be tragically absent in them and they must have the moral status of beasts. However, this is not universally held, and there's some disagreement about Tupac and...some dude named "Busta Rhymes." I'm not sure what the story is there, I think maybe some Patriarch liked that Mountain Dew commercial he was in.
