Okay, you win. Unions are still pretty high up there.

    • Unions are among the few organized political constituencies for downward redistribution. They are also for redistribution towards certain middle class constituencies, but I'll take that bargain. The same issues apply to means testing the safety net or switching from in kind to cash social welfare. How do you maintain the political constituency for a welfare state without buying off certain classes of people above the median income?

If unions are broken, who believes that the EITC will go up?

      • Thanks for admitting that the real reason for unions is to create an organized lobby for Democratic politicians

        • Isn't it illegal to use campaign funds for personal expense?
Four Democrats who were reached by The Associated Press said none of their daily expenses would be charged to taxpayers, and none will accept any per diem funds. [State Senator Chris] Larson did say his hotel room Monday was paid for by the State Senate Democratic Campaign. He said the group might pay for more nights depending on how long he stays.

            • I love you Dashi. Don't ever change. Though I would like your opinion on the legality of the use of campaign funds in this situation.

              • Yeah, I liked that response too. And in answer to your question: it is not. A simple search would have answered it.

I believe in downward income redistribution and want a political atmosphere where that is practical. I make no bones about that.

First, you set a baseline based on each child's abilities in preschool and/or kindergarten. After that each child's "score" is adjusted per year, or per semester, according to how far they have advanced.

Teachers are then judged by how each child has pregressed against that child's own record, and is paid accordingly.

Tests used for this would have to be randomized to prevent "teaching to the test".

This should be possible given modern data analysis.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                    • That doesn't solve any of the problems of using student testing to evaluate teachers.

                          Standardized testing isn't a problem, it's a solution

                            • DaShi, I've stopped trying to convince you because despite KH's rather rigorous proof of why unions completely suck, you stick to your guns anyways. So while you may lampoon my lack of supporting evidence for my recent claims, you should note that they've all been explained in full previously by myself and others and it really is you who so stubbornly sticks to your false convictions that deserves to be laughed at.

                              • I'm just teasing you for your over-reactionary responses and how you believe everything a conservative says without question. The NR is laughable. And so are standardized testing. Hopefully, KH will show up to defend your points for you.
