Obviously there's more to just cutting the military budget. Churches should be taxed, the rich should be taxed more, and foreign aid should be eliminated.

Not enough. Start a protection racket and make other countries pay. Think of it as reverse foreign aid. It's about time the Canadians stop free loading and paid us for protecting them.

I keep misreading this thread's title as something akin to "do you believe there is a final solution to the United States?" as I scroll past it, and doing a double-take. Does anybody else have that problem?

Kill the military and use the people who signed up for the military to do slave labour. That's what they're doing anyway, really, and they've already chosen to serve their country. So it's not really slavery. Except now instead of killing Iraqis they can manufacture cheap products.

Everybody wins.

HC is going nuts because some people believe the nonpartisan CBO's analysis of the effects of the bill instead of believing congress passed some kind of fantasy bill that increases the deficit.

That's ok, we're used to his spin and know exactly how much value to put on it.

Of course that's the bad part. But I'm talking about if maybe there were other options available to the human race but for some reason we didn't pick them because this is actually best.

It is hard to imagine why, yeah. But maybe it's still in flux right now. Or maybe it will turn out that some political thing to come out of it will be important in the future.
