So are they classified as North American food, Japanese food, or Chinese food? We demand an answer damnit.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

The worst thing is the recipes for Mexican food.

So more evidence that it is indeed Dutch and not African.

The site has icons for different regions/countries:

              America - hamburger
Britain - pork pies, tea, cucumber sandwiches
              Chinese - spring rolls
              Japan - sushi and soba
              Mexican - guacamole
              etc
              Africa - bananas.

              Well done Beeb.

Some of the distinctions are a little more specific than I would expect, especially since Africa is just lumped as one big thing.

For example, Mexican, South American, Spanish, Caribbean (though this includes Jamaican, Haitian, etc.) and Portuguese are all separated (which makes the exclusion of Central American a little strange if they were so geographically-diligent)... but really, how much different are these cuisines from each other? I know tacos would be unknown in Spain, for example, but there's still so much overlap and commonality, especially between Spain and Portugal. Is the Iberian peninsula that gastronomically demarcated?

Similar with the distinction between the Middle East and North Africa. There are differences sure but are they significant enough to warrant separate categories, especially in light of the vague "Eastern European" (I highly doubt Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, and Balkan cuisine is all the same) and African.

Also, where is the Germanic cuisine? What do Germans, Dutch, and Scandinavians eat?

BBC is complicit in advancing this idea.

They didn't treat Mexico much better. For Mexico they listed a condiment.

That's a disgusting American stereotype. Black people wear grass skirts, live on palms and eat bananas.
