"Many Think" vs "Some Say"

If you have nothing substantial to back up your position, say in a media article or somesuch, should you rather use the phrase "Many think X is great/whatever" (where X is whatever you like to advocat) or "Some say X..." to get your point through?!? I encountered both a lot and so I'm wondering....
