  • How many times do you see hits like this in football?

Hit is by a Calgary Flame, BTW.

I wonder what the season-long force accumulations would be. Albie! Go collect the data.

                We need more data points.

                • Keep in mind the difference in frequency also. Every hockey player (except the goalie) gets hit like that many times each game. And there can be 4 games in a week.

                  • Asher, those hits aren't even unique to hockey. Maybe the speed might be slightly greater but there's less leverage because of the ice so the force that a tackler can exert is reduced due to the frictionless surface.

As for how the body reacted to the hits, that is routine in NFL football. Seriously, watch some NFL hits compilations. The bodies fly literally all the time.

QBs, receivers, tight ends, returners, and special teams blockers get hit like that every game. But yeah, only once per week. Linemen get hit every single play, but generally at much lower speeds.

"slightly greater"? Do you have any ****ing idea how fast skaters are compared to runners?

And what the **** are you talking about? Your second sentence MAKES NO SENSE by the laws of physics.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW SKATES WORK?

There is virtually ZERO friction on ice skates when you do a lateral movement. They DIG INTO the ice.

All the time meaning one or two people a game, where a game is once a week?

                        Weak.

They get season-ending concussions and do a full body flip in a quarter of a second every game?

I'd like to point out that hit was perfectly legal, also.

                            Concussions

You are an animal, Asher. You cheer to see concussions?

Concussions are an unfortunate part of football as well, but it's not a cool good thing.

I'm not cheering for the concussions, I'm demonstrating how hard the hits are in hockey.

Last I checked, hockey had far higher concussion rates than any other sport. Which should tell you about how hard the hits are.

Across the league? Maybe. I don't really have the stats on that. I usually just watch the Redskins, who suffer season-ending injuries every game because the front office invests in over-the-hill underachievers rather than fitness staff.

...and do a full body flip in a quarter of a second every game?
                                Oh yes.
