        Are those scout badges?

Boy scouts, almost as gay as the Marines & Navy

I don't know, but since you obviously are not physically fit enough to be a marine, you might want to try something a tad more realistic. (BTW, astronaut while an admirable dream is probably out of your reach too).

That's what I'm saying. Try the Navy, or the Army. Why does it have to be the Marines?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I'm physically qualified. It's not my fault my legs got fractures in them. I'm working on my running form and stretching my hamstring muscles. My hamstrings are very 'short'.

I'm hoping POSE running will be the solution to my shin woes.

I don't think you understand. I've been essentially finished twice now. Both times, I had only one graded event left (called Small Unit Leadership Evaluation II). The second time, through, especially, I excelled. But with fractures in my legs, I couldn't do the last two weeks of training and the one remaining graded event.

I got this. It's not that hard. I just need my body to be able to not break on me. That's why I'm really hoping I can do the 6-week course. I've done 7 weeks twice so 6 weeks (really 5 weeks of training minus graduation week and outprocessing) will be a breeze.

It probably is. Some people have more fragile bones than others. Which makes you not very physically qualified.

Apparently simple, repetitive tasks involving the use of the body - eg, knitting, washing up the dishes, mowing the lawn, shelling nuts - where there is some concentration required, but not enough to prevent the mind from doing something else, such as having a conversation or daydreaming about the ideal form of government, produce very healthy "brain waves". That is, the brain is in a happy state.

Throughout the industrial revolution we've sought to free ourselves from menial tasks. I suspect that it is these menial tasks - not too demanding or boring - that help keep a mental equilibrium. Keeping oneself busy, so to speak.

I'm not claiming that all depression is the result of lack of activity, some is definitely a result of chemical imbalance, but on a statistical level I bet there's a connection.

I worked once with a guy who used to be first luitenant on a boomer. Fun and interesting times.

That's how it's spelled in Dutch. The rank is:

                                Luitenant-ter-zee 1ste klasse

                                *looked it up on wikipedia.
