I keep hearing about people who move in with each other after 4 months of dating, or getting engaged after 6 months or so. It seems shocking to me, but yet intriguing at the same time. I've never lived with a girl, nor been engaged.
So, just out of curiosity how long were you dating your SO before you moved in together? How long till you were engaged?
We moved in after 2.5 years, and got engaged after 3.5 years.

Engaged after 1.5 years of dating + 6 months of knowing each other before that.
Going to marry her 6 months after that.
Will move in together after the honeymoon is over.
Moving in before marriage or at least engagement boggles my mind, to be honest.

You should move in together before getting married so that you know you CAN live together, right? People put on facades when they're dating and even in a long-term relationship, you may really not have seen behind the mask yet.

I believe that the success rates for people who live together before getting married are not higher than for those that do not live together before getting married.
I think the truth of the matter is that human relationships are horrendously complicated things, and not nearly modeled well by simple approximations.

I've been happily unmarried for over 14 years, and living together for most of that time. Obviously I'm delighted that she hasn't thrown me out yet, but marriage is optional IMO. It's not for me.
The Mrs. and I knew each other for a couple of months before I moved down here. We lived together for 8.5 years and got legally married when we had to for VA assistance in buying a house.
Been legally married 20 months, together 10 years.

I've read that moving in together before marriage leads to a lower marriage minus divorce rate than doing the other way around. People are more willing to put up with each other's idiosyncrasies or to change themselves when they're married.
