  • How Long Till You Moved In/Got Engaged?

I keep hearing about people who move in with each other after 4 months of dating, or getting engaged after 6 months or so. It seems shocking to me, but yet intriguing at the same time. I've never lived with a girl, nor been engaged.

So, just out of curiosity how long were you dating your SO before you moved in together? How long till you were engaged?

As I mentioned, 4 months until I moved in with my current GF. So far, we've been dating for 2 years and 3 months.

      [edit:]

I do however get along terribly well with her.

Is this concerning the check out girl?

No. Ozzy has a girlfriend and it's not the check-out girl, I'm pretty sure.

He's probably like, check out girl? That was like a year ago!

My girlfriend and I have been together for 22 months. We moved in together this past June, so, 15 months into our relationship.

Every time. Ones that worked, ones that didn't. Ones where you waited a while, ones where you didn't. Just curious.

Actually, kind of funny, just last week I went grocery shopping with my girlfriend (of 5 months) and we went through check out girl's line. I'm pretty glad I never asked her out.

But, I'm curious about this not because I'm thinking about moving in or proposing in the next month or two. Just curious.

She didn't move in until we were married, and there wasn't really a precise point where we got engaged. After being in a long-distance relationship for several years, we just sort of slid into this tacit understanding that we'd be getting hitched. She insisted I actually ask, as a pure formality, but it wasn't romantic or anything. When she drove down from Boston, I greeted her as she was pulling in the driveway and asked, "hey, wanna get hitched?" And that was good enough for her. Yay, non-romantic women!

Heather and I dated for over a year before i proposed. she moved in five or six months after we were 'engaged.'

of course. we're getting divorced now, so take that as you will.

I spent 2 weeks with my wife (to be), her friend, and a couple of my friends traveling (drinking) in France and Spain. A couple of months after that (in seperate countries), I spent a month in Stockholm with her. Three months later (again in different countries) we got married in Sweden and she moved to Canada, where I lived at the time. That was 30 years ago. Long romances, etc, are for poofs.

I proposed on our one year anniversary. Won't move in together likely until marriage (Fall 2012).

I always thought it's best to live with each other for a bit before committing to marriage. You can learn a lot about a person from living with them that you wouldn't learn just from dating. I am speaking from absolutely no experience, though.
